Kanye West has once again found himself in headlines, this time for his surprise appearance at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering trial. The rapper showed up at the Manhattan federal courthouse on June 13, but not to testify.
According to reports, Kanye arrived shortly before 11:30 a.m. wearing white denim and sunglasses. He spent about 40 minutes in an overflow room with Diddy’s son, Christian, watching the proceedings on a video monitor. When asked if he was there to support Diddy, Kanye nodded and said “yes.” However, when asked if he planned to testify, he stayed silent.
Kanye’s visit quickly became a media spectacle, drawing heavy press coverage. YouTuber Melanie King questioned his motives, suggesting that Kanye came for attention, not just to support Diddy. “He knows this is going to create a spectacle,” she said. “He doesn’t try to enter quietly or blend in. He knew all eyes would be on him.”
King also pointed out that Kanye’s visit came after a witness in the trial mentioned an “iconic rapper” in testimony about a 2024 private jet trip involving Diddy. Many online believe that rapper to be Kanye, though his name was not mentioned in court. King argued that Kanye’s appearance could have been timed to draw attention and get his name connected to the trial publicly.
As Diddy’s high-profile trial continues, testimonies have included those of his ex-girlfriends Cassie Ventura and another witness referred to as “Jane,” along with rapper Kid Cudi. Combs faces charges of sex trafficking, abuse, arson, and conspiracy.
Kanye West has not commented further on his visit or the trial.
