Kanye West has officially changed his name again. The rapper and fashion mogul, who has gone by “Ye” since 2021, now has a new legal name: “Ye Ye.”
According to reports from Page Six, new business documents show that Kanye has updated filings for several of his companies to reflect the new name. These include major ventures like Yeezy Apparel, Getting Out Our Dreams Inc., and Yeezy Record Label, LLC.
The paperwork was filed by Kanye’s chief financial officer, Hussain Lalani, in California. While the legal documents confirm the name switch, Kanye himself has not spoken publicly about it yet.
This is the latest step in Kanye’s long journey of changing his public identity. Back in 2018, he first told fans he was dropping “Kanye West” and would be known simply as “Ye.” He made it official with a court filing in 2021, saying the change was for “personal reasons.”
Earlier this year, Kanye hinted at moving further away from his old name by announcing he would stop using his @kanyewest handle on social media. However, no one expected the new name “Ye Ye.”
In 2024, Kanye’s team even sent letters to media outlets asking them to stop using his old name, calling it his “slave name.”
As for why he added another “Ye,” fans are still guessing. Kanye hasn’t explained the meaning yet, but based on his history, it’s likely we’ll hear his reasons soon. For now, the world knows him as “Ye Ye.”
