BTS members Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook have revealed that the group is preparing for their first album in four years, aiming for a release next spring. The announcement came during multiple live sessions with fans on Weverse, the fan community platform.
Jimin and Jungkook spoke openly about their excitement and concerns regarding the upcoming album. “We’re aiming for next spring. No matter what the outcome is, we have to release something, right?” said Jungkook. Jimin agreed, adding, “Our ARMY has waited so long, we can’t delay it any longer.”
Jungkook also shared his curiosity about the album’s direction. “I’m really curious about the title. We have to work hard until next spring. Honestly, I’m a bit worried,” he admitted. Jimin added, “I’m wondering what kind of song we’ll come back with.”
The members also discussed the challenges of creating new music. Jungkook said he struggles with writing lyrics compared to RM, the group’s leader. “I can’t write lyrics like Namjoon hyung. I’m very straightforward and realistic, so the wording doesn’t come out easily,” he explained.
During the live session, Jimin recalled a lighthearted moment from their military service. He said that one night while trying to sleep, he heard Jungkook singing in his sleep. Jungkook had dreamed of a melody and was trying to record it in his dream. “I wanted to record it so bad since it was so good,” Jungkook said. However, without phones in the military, he couldn’t capture the melody once he woke up.
BTS recently completed their mandatory military service. Jin and J-Hope were discharged last year, while RM, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook finished theirs last month. Suga, who performed alternative social service, was the last member to be discharged.
Fans around the world are eagerly waiting for BTS’s return to music after this long break. The group’s last album, BE, was released in 2020.
