Simon Entwistle, 42, was originally given only 0.5% of his ex-wife Jenny Helliwell’s £66 million fortune in their divorce settlement. He received £325,000 after a bitter legal battle. The couple married in 2019 and lived in a luxury Dubai villa, but separated in 2022.
Entwistle had asked for £2.5 million but was denied because of a prenuptial agreement. The prenup stated that each would keep their own assets and share any joint assets equally. Before court, Helliwell offered £500,000, then £800,000, but Entwistle held out for more.
During the case, Entwistle requested £36,000 a year for flights and £26,000 for meal plans, explaining he “can’t even cook an omelette.” The judge told him to “learn how to cook” and said he didn’t need to be a master chef to eat well. The judge added that living off his ex-wife’s fortune after divorce was not a right just because he was married to a rich person.
Entwistle claimed the prenup was invalid because Helliwell hid about £48 million in assets when they signed it. This included business ventures and a Wimbledon mansion. The court agreed, finding Helliwell hid 73% of her wealth.
The appeal court ruled the prenup cannot stand due to Helliwell’s “fraudulent” behavior. Lady Justice King said a new settlement must be agreed. She hoped the couple could avoid another painful court hearing.
Helliwell’s fortune includes property in Dubai and France, plus assets gifted by her father. Entwistle’s net worth is about £850,000.
The judges did not rule on Entwistle’s claims of gender prejudice but confirmed the hidden assets were deliberate.
