BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is set to star in the upcoming zombie thriller series “Newtopia”. Produced by Korean streaming service Coupang Play, the show will follow two lovers navigating a zombie-infested Seoul.
In the series, Jisoo plays Kang Young-ju, an engineer separated from her boyfriend Lee Jae-yoon (portrayed by Park Jung-min) during a zombie outbreak. The couple struggles to reunite while battling the undead threat.
“Newtopia” boasts an impressive creative team, including co-writer Han Jin-won of Oscar-winning “Parasite” fame, and Ji Ho-jin, known for Disney+’s “A Shop for Killers”. The series marks the TV directorial debut of filmmaker Yoon Sung-hyun.
This project represents Jisoo’s second television role following her appearance in “Snowdrop” (2020). With filming already completed, “Newtopia” is slated for release in 2025.
