Jay-Z and Beyoncé to Face Off at 2025 Emmy Awards in Same Category

Music power couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé will face off at the 2025 Emmy Awards after both receiving nominations in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category.

Beyoncé, 43, earned her nomination for her halftime performance during Netflix’s Christmas Game Day between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans on December 25, 2024. The event, dubbed the “Beyoncé Bowl,” marked the first time the singer performed songs from her Grammy-winning album Cowboy Carter live.

Jay-Z, 55, received recognition for his role in producing the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show featuring Kendrick Lamar. The music mogul, who makes final decisions on Super Bowl halftime performers through his company Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL, oversaw the February 9 production at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
