James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has addressed recent rumors about the next Wonder Woman film and the casting process for the iconic superhero.

Gunn, who is currently promoting the upcoming Superman film, took to social media to clarify that no casting decisions have been made for Wonder Woman yet. He emphasized that the studio is focused on finding the best person for the role, regardless of their background in TV or film.

“I’d never in a million years look for a major role based on whether they did TV, films, or whatever. It’s all about the casting,” Gunn posted on Threads. He specifically responded to a fan rumor suggesting DC was searching for a television actress for the role, similar to how Milly Alcock was chosen to play Supergirl.

Gunn also confirmed that Adria Arjona, whom fans speculated might be cast as Wonder Woman after Gunn followed her on social media, has not been cast. He explained that they have known each other since working together on a project seven years ago. “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way,” Gunn said, but clarified that following her on Instagram was not related to casting.

As for the new Wonder Woman film, Gunn stated that a script is currently in development, but no casting or production decisions will be made until the script is completed.

“It’s a priority, but I wouldn’t call that fast-tracked,” Gunn said, responding to reports that the movie was being rushed into production. “Nothing is going to be shot unless we’re as sure as we can be that the script is good.”

This update comes as DC Studios prepares for the release of Superman, the first major film in the new DC Universe lineup under Gunn and his producing partner Peter Safran.
