The viral TikTok duo Island Boys has officially broken up, according to member Alex Venegas. He told TMZ that the split actually happened over a year ago, but the news is only now becoming public.
Alex broke his silence after his twin brother Franky was arrested in Naples, Florida on February 23. Franky was initially pulled over for a traffic stop, but police found prescription pills and an unregistered handgun. He was charged with possession of an altered firearm and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
The brothers rose to fame in 2021 with their viral TikTok videos but faced mockery from established artists in the music industry. Despite this, they maintained a presence online longer than many expected.
According to Alex, the brothers have not been on good terms for months. He moved out of their shared Florida home over a year ago, citing differences in lifestyle.
Alex, who recently became a father, describes himself as a “family man” and says his brother’s more aggressive lifestyle no longer matched his own values.
When asked if he would help Franky with legal fees for his recent arrest, Alex said he had paid for lawyers in the past but felt his efforts weren’t appreciated. He claims Franky once told him: “You’ve done nothing for me.”
