While appearing on The Big Podcast With Shaq to promote his BIG3 basketball league, Cube was asked for his thoughts on the lyrical feud between the two modern rap superstars.
Though he said he “approves of rap battles” as “the essence of the game,” Cube cautioned that the beef may not be over despite Lamar appearing to get the better of Drake so far.
“I think Kendrick is up. He’s landed the more hard and effective punches, but that don’t mean Drake can’t get off the canvas,” Cube stated. “If I was Kendrick, I’d stay locked and loaded just to be ready for whatever’s coming.”
Cube certainly knows a thing or two about legendary rap disses, having taken aim at his former N.W.A. groupmates and Ruthless Records on the scathing 1991 track “No Vaseline.”
He even told a crowd at the California Roots Festival last month that his record remains “the best diss track” because “One MC โ myself โ I took out four motherf—ers and the manager. You can’t beat that.”
So while Kendrick may be ahead on scorecards at the moment in his tiff with Drake, Cube seems to be advising the Compton rapper not to get too comfortable just yet.
