Is Half-Life 3 Finally Happening? Leaks Suggest It’s Almost Ready

Half-Life 3 might be closer to release than fans have imagined. After years of speculation and rumors, the long-awaited game seems to be progressing well.

While Grand Theft Auto VI may be highly anticipated, Half-Life 3 holds a special place in gaming history, being one of the most desired sequels.

The franchise is famous for its innovative gameplay and advanced physics, making each encounter feel fresh. Valve, known for its commitment to quality, has not released many big new titles lately, making Half-Life: Alyx‘s return to the series a surprise.

Released in 2020, the game introduced Half-Life to VR, setting the stage for Half-Life 3. While five years have passed with no word from Valve, rumors about Half-Life 3 persist, particularly regarding its codename, HLX, which has been spotted in files during datamining.

Recent reports indicate that Half-Life 3 is further along than expected. Insider Tyler McVicker, known for his Valve leaks, claims the game is playable from start to finish. While not finished, McVicker notes that it has a complete story and is being rigorously playtested.

He suggests that the game could even release later this year, possibly with an announcement in the summer. He also mentions that the game may feature Chell from Portal, further hinting at a crossover between the two iconic franchises.

Unlike Half-Life: Alyx, which was a VR game, McVicker assures fans that Half-Life 3 will be a traditional release, meaning no VR headset required. Though the news sounds promising, it’s worth keeping expectations in check, as Half-Life 3 has been canceled multiple times before.

Fans have waited nearly 20 years for this moment, and it seems Half-Life 3 might finally be within reach. Whether or not it actually happens remains to be seen, but for now, the signs look promising.
