People who’ve been cheated on are warning others about one key sign that could mean your partner is being unfaithful—and it’s not what you might expect.
A Reddit thread recently asked users to share the biggest red flags they ignored in a relationship, and one warning came up repeatedly: accusations of cheating.
Many users said their unfaithful partners were the ones constantly accusing them of cheating—despite having no reason to suspect it. According to them, this kind of reverse psychology is often a projection of their own guilt.
One person wrote: “Constantly asking where I was and accusing me of cheating. I was working 12+ hour shifts at a remote oil plant—when would I even have time to cheat?” Another added: “He kept checking my phone and saying he didn’t trust me. Turned out he was the one hiding something.”
This pattern isn’t just speculation. Professional private investigator Cassie Crofts, who runs Venus Investigations in Australia, confirmed that suspicious behavior like sudden secrecy or unprovoked accusations often signals cheating.
Speaking with UNILAD, Crofts explained how her team investigates suspected infidelity, starting with unusual timelines—like surprise business trips or odd working hours—and then tracking patterns.
“Sometimes we don’t find anything for a few days and the client calls it off. But in many cases, those suspicions turn out to be right,” she said.
So if your partner is constantly accusing you without cause, it might not just be insecurity—it could be a sign they’re hiding something themselves.
