Bruno Mars has officially launched his next musical era with the release of “I Just Might,” the lead single from his forthcoming album, The Romantic. The song has quickly reached the top 10 on iTunes in the United States, showing strong early sales ahead of the album’s planned release this spring.
Mars is known for spacing out his solo releases, allowing each project to make a significant impact. His last solo album, 24K Magic, came out in 2016. Since then, he has focused on collaborations, most notably with Anderson .Paak as part of Silk Sonic, producing the Grammy-winning album An Evening With Silk Sonic.
“I Just Might” debuted at No. 6 on the iTunes Top Songs chart, making it one of the week’s most successful new releases. Country artist Jason Aldean currently holds the top three spots, while Mumford & Sons appear with “The Banjo Song” from their upcoming album Prizefighter.
In 2025, Mars kept a relatively low profile, aside from his collaboration with rapper Sexyy Red on “Fat Juicy & Wet,” which briefly reached the Hot 100 top 20. He also released the Portuguese track Bonde do Brunão, which had limited impact in the United States.
Mars was more active in 2024, releasing the Grammy-winning single “Die With a Smile” with Lady Gaga and “Apt.” with Blackpink’s Rosé, which has received multiple Grammy nominations.
The Romantic will be Mars’ first solo album in nearly ten years. Early sales of “I Just Might” and renewed interest in his past hits suggest the album could continue his streak of commercial and critical success.
The release reinforces Mars’ position as one of the most influential pop artists of his generation, with fans eagerly anticipating the full album later this year.
