Former Rockstar developer Ben Hinchliffe recently shared insights into the development of GTA 5, revealing that the internal pitch for the game was to make it “bigger and better” than GTA 4.

Instead of reinventing the wheel, Rockstar focused on improving every aspect of the game, from car physics to pedestrian interactions.

A significant addition in GTA 5 was the introduction of three playable characters, which allowed for more dynamic storytelling and character interactions. This decision set the stage for more varied narrative outcomes and a deeper player experience.

With GTA 6 on the horizon and a budget of over $2 billion, Rockstar plans to push even further. However, some former developers suggest GTA 6 won’t drastically differ from its predecessor, which could lead to varied fan reactions.
