How Long Will Your Xiaomi Phone Get Updates? Find Out Now

Xiaomi HyperOS 2.1

Xiaomi recently announced a major change for its Android phones. The company will now provide up to five years of software support for many of its devices.

This move puts Xiaomi on the same level as brands like Google and Samsung for long-term updates. In some cases, Xiaomi’s support may even last longer than those competitors.

Flagship Phones Get the Longest Support
Owners of Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, POCO F7 Pro, and POCO F7 Ultra will get software updates until 2031. This includes four years of major Android upgrades and two years of security patches, totaling six years of support. Although most people do not keep phones for six years, this is good news for those who do or plan to resell their phones.

Mid-Range Phones Receive Five Years of Security Updates
Xiaomi will provide five years of security updates for many mid-range phones. This includes models like the Xiaomi 14T Pro, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, and POCO X7 Pro. These phones might not get all the latest Android versions, but they will stay secure for a long time.

Better Support for Budget Phones
Budget phones such as the POCO M7 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 14 5G, POCO C75, and Redmi 14C will get around four years of updates. This is a big improvement over the usual 18 months of updates that budget phones used to receive.

Tablets Also Included
Xiaomi’s tablets, like the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro, will receive updates until 2028. This is uncommon for Android tablets.

What This Means for Users
Xiaomi’s new plan shows it is serious about improving software support across its whole device range. While it remains to be seen if Xiaomi will deliver all updates on time, this is a positive step for users who want their devices to stay secure and updated longer.
