HMD Global, the company behind Nokia-branded smartphones, is stepping into the audio market with its first true wireless earbuds, the HMD Ampd Buds.

Leaked via an FCC filing, the earbuds feature a design inspired by the iconic Nokia Lumia series, complete with vibrant color options and a unique charging case.

Design and Features

The Ampd Buds sport a flat stem-style design, typical of modern TWS earbuds. However, the charging case stands out with its Lumia-inspired aesthetics, mirroring the design of the HMD Skyline smartphone.

Available in Black, Blue, and Pink, the earbuds and case exude a nostalgic yet modern vibe.

One of the standout features is the built-in magnets in the charging case, enabling reverse wireless charging.

This allows the case to attach to compatible smartphones, like the HMD Skyline, for on-the-go charging—perfect for users who often forget their cables.

Battery and Performance

While the FCC filing doesn’t reveal the case’s battery capacity, the earbuds are equipped with 35mAh batteries, offering up to 5 hours of music playback on a single charge.

Launch Timeline

HMD has yet to announce an official release date, but the Ampd Buds could debut at MWC 2025, where the company is expected to showcase other gadgets and accessories.

What This Means for HMD

The Ampd Buds mark HMD’s expansion beyond smartphones, signaling its intent to build a broader ecosystem of devices.

With its Lumia-inspired design and practical features, HMD is blending nostalgia with modern innovation to attract tech enthusiasts.

Stay tuned for more updates as HMD prepares to unveil its first foray into the audio market.
