Hilary Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, has sparked online debate after posting a sharp response to an essay written by Ashley Tisdale about leaving a “toxic” mom group.
Tisdale shared her experience in an article for The Cut, saying she distanced herself from friends after feeling excluded and realising the group was no longer healthy for her. She did not name anyone involved.
Despite this, speculation grew after reports claimed Tisdale had unfollowed Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore on social media. Tisdale’s representatives later clarified that the essay was not about Duff, Moore, or any other celebrities.
Even so, Koma posted a photoshopped image mocking the article on Instagram, accusing Tisdale of being self-obsessed and tone-deaf. He presented it as a parody interview written “through a father’s eyes.”
The post quickly spread online, with many people surprised that Koma got involved despite no one being named in the original essay. Some users criticised him for escalating the situation and drawing unwanted attention to private friendships.
Others defended Koma, saying he was simply standing up for his wife. The post has since divided opinion, with fans arguing over whether his response was justified or unnecessary.
