Hamilton Rejects Horner-to-Ferrari Talk, Urges Focus Ahead of US Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton & Christian Horner

Lewis Hamilton has rejected rumors that Red Bull team principal Christian Horner could join Ferrari, calling the idea “not a good one” and “distracting.”

Speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion said such talk is unhelpful for Ferrari as the team fights for its first constructors’ title since 2008.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea for Christian Horner to come to Ferrari,” Hamilton told reporters. “I’m not going to talk about rumors anymore. It’s a little bit distracting and not helpful.”

Hamilton, who will join Ferrari next season, said the speculation could disrupt focus within the team. His comments come after reports suggested Ferrari might approach Horner to replace Fred Vasseur, who recently signed a multi-year contract extension.

Horner has been at the center of Red Bull’s dominant run in Formula 1, while Hamilton and Horner have often clashed over the years during fierce championship battles.

The rumors spread widely on X, with fans and outlets reacting to Hamilton’s remarks. PlanetF1 shared his quote, calling it a “blunt response,” while Turkish and French motorsport accounts translated his comments, sparking thousands of views and lively debate. Some users joked that “Horner in red” would cause chaos within Ferrari.

Ferrari officials, including teammate Charles Leclerc, also dismissed the speculation, calling it a distraction from the team’s goal of closing the 40-point gap to McLaren in the constructors’ standings.

Hamilton’s straightforward stance reflects his focus on stability as he prepares to join Ferrari in 2026. The Briton said the team must avoid distractions if it hopes to end its long title drought.
