Halo Remake

Halo Remake Rumored for 2026, May Launch Without Classic Multiplayer Mode

A remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved is reportedly in development and scheduled for release in 2026 to mark the franchise’s 25th anniversary. However, early reports suggest the game may include only the single-player campaign, with no multiplayer mode planned at this stage.

According to a YouTube report by Rebs Gaming, two unnamed sources connected to developers of the Halo series confirmed that the remake has been in development since 2023.

While official details remain scarce, both sources indicated they had not heard anything about a multiplayer component, raising concerns that the remake might offer a more limited experience compared to the original 2001 release.

It is not yet known whether the remake will be exclusive to Xbox Series X and S or also launch on other platforms. There is speculation it could also come to PlayStation 5, marking the series’ debut on Sony’s console—similar to how Gears of War Reloaded is set to expand beyond Xbox next month.

The Halo franchise has long been a flagship property for Xbox. The release of a remake could rekindle interest in the series, especially following mixed reactions to Halo Infinite’s post-launch content.

In addition to the remake news, updates were shared about “Project Ekur,” a battle royale project originally tied to Halo Infinite’s multiplayer. The game, now handled by developer Certain Affinity, is reportedly still in active development. Known dataminer grunt.api recently posted a new ID code linked to the game, suggesting regular updates are being made.

While Microsoft has yet to officially confirm the remake, fans may not have to wait much longer. Major announcements about the future of the Halo series are expected at the Halo World Championship (HaloWC) in October 2025.
