A former Rockstar Games artist has revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6 has been in development since 2018.

This confirms that the upcoming game has been in the works for eight years.

David O’Reilly, who used to work at Rockstar, shared this information in a YouTube video. He said, “I worked on GTA 6 from 2018 to 2023.

Went onto it after we wrapped up on RDR2.” This means the team started work on GTA 6 right after Red Dead Redemption 2 was completed.

GTA 6 is set to release in May 2026. By then, it will have been nearly 13 years since GTA 5 came out.

This is the longest gap between two main GTA titles. The wait between GTA 4 and GTA 5 was only five years.

Fans are eager to see more of GTA 6. Its second trailer already broke online viewership records.

Now that its release is only a year away, Rockstar is expected to reveal more updates soon.
