Fans of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) are growing frustrated after waiting over a year for the game’s second trailer.
The first trailer, released on December 4, 2023, broke records even before it went online, but the wait for trailer 2 has set a new, disappointing record for Rockstar Games.
As of December 17, 2024, GTA 6’s second trailer has broken the record for the longest gap between a first and second trailer for any Rockstar title.
At 379 days, it surpasses the previous record held by Grand Theft Auto V, which had a 378-day wait between its trailers. Fans had hoped to see trailer 2 by the end of 2024, but that hasn’t happened yet.
The reason behind the delay is unclear, but there are speculations that the game’s release could slip from its planned 2025 launch. This would mean an even longer wait for the next trailer.
In comparison, Rockstar’s other major games, like GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption 2, had much shorter gaps between trailers. GTA IV only had a 91-day wait, while Red Dead Redemption had a 208-day gap.
The extended wait has left fans wondering why Rockstar is taking so long. Some expected the trailer to drop at events like the Game Awards, but those hopes were dashed.
Rockstar is known for taking its time with marketing, and while fans are eager, the studio seems content to release news when it feels ready.
With the game still expected in 2025 (or possibly early 2026), the promotional cycle for GTA 6 is likely to kick off in early 2025, starting with the much-anticipated second trailer.
