The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is still unclear. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently praised the new console’s hardware but suggested that not every game will make it to the platform.
Speaking during a financial Q&A, Zelnick said, “We address it on a case-by-case basis… we would not necessarily bring every title to every platform.” While he didn’t mention GTA 6 directly, many believe his comments include Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated title.
The Switch 2 features a custom Nvidia T239 chip and supports DLSS upscaling, which allows demanding games to run better. But GTA 6 is expected to be one of the most technically advanced games ever made, with a huge open world and detailed graphics. Developers may need to reduce visual quality for it to run smoothly on a handheld system.
Zelnick also mentioned that older games from Take-Two might come to the new console. This opens the door for possible ports of GTA 4 or GTA 5, which never launched on the original Switch.
For now, no official confirmation has been given for GTA 6 on Switch 2. Fans will need to wait and see if Rockstar chooses to bring its biggest game to Nintendo’s next-gen device.
