The Recording Academy has announced several key updates and changes for the 2025 Grammy Awards.

These changes aim to streamline the process and better reflect the evolving music landscape.

Eligibility Period and Nominations Timeline

The eligibility period for the 67th annual Grammy Awards will run from September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024. Nominations will be revealed on November 8, 2024. This timeline allows artists and music professionals to prepare and submit their work within the designated period.

Voting Rounds and New Categories

The first round of voting will take place from October 4 to October 15, 2024, and the final round from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025. The Recording Academy has introduced two new categories: Best Latin Electronic Music Performance and Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album (Regional-Mexican Field). These additions aim to recognize the growing diversity and innovation in Latin music.

Category Renaming and Submission Guidelines

Some categories have been renamed to better reflect the evolving music landscape. For example, Best MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) / MAPB (Música Afro Portuguesa-Brasileira) Album is now called Best Singer-Songwriter Song (Singer-Songwriter Field). The submission process has also been simplified, allowing artists to submit their work as they go, without needing to hold all entries for a final submit.

AI Technology and New Categories

The Recording Academy has introduced three new categories to address the emergence of AI technology in music: Best African Music Performance, Best Pop Dance Recording, and Best Alternative Jazz Album. These categories acknowledge the growing role of AI in music creation and production.

Streamlining the Process

These changes aim to streamline the process and make it more efficient for artists and music professionals. By allowing submissions throughout the eligibility period and simplifying the submission process, the Recording Academy hopes to reduce the administrative burden and focus on recognizing outstanding music.

The 2025 Grammy Awards will feature several key changes and updates, including new categories, category renaming, and streamlined submission guidelines.

These changes aim to better reflect the evolving music landscape and provide a more efficient process for artists and music professionals. The Recording Academy’s commitment to innovation and recognition of outstanding music continues to shape the music industry.
