Google Photos has just received two new features for Android users — and they’re both pretty useful.
The first is AI Enhance, a one-tap editing tool that automatically adjusts lighting, brightness, and shadows in your photos. No manual sliders, no fiddling around — just tap and let the AI do the work.
AI Enhance was previously only available on Pixel 8 and newer devices. Google has now confirmed it’s rolling out to all Android phones. The announcement was made through the official Google Photos account on X.
The second feature is video playback speed controls. Users can now slow down or speed up videos in Google Photos, with options ranging from 0.25x all the way to 2x. Google says this was one of the most requested features from users.
Both features are accessible directly inside the Google Photos editor and player. However, while AI Enhance appears to be in a wide global rollout, the playback speed controls are still in the earlier stages of deployment.
If you don’t see either feature yet, try updating Google Photos to the latest version on the Play Store.
Google has been adding a lot to Photos recently. The brand also rolled out Ask Photos, a Gemini-powered tool that lets users search for specific pictures using everyday language.
With Google I/O coming up in May 2026, more AI and editing features are likely on the way.
