Google Gemini to Add RCS Support—Easier Image and File Sharing Coming Soon

Google continues to improve the Gemini experience for Android users, adding new features every month. Recently, the company introduced extension support to Gemini Live and is working on deeper integration with third-party services.

Now, Google is taking steps toward adding RCS (Rich Communication Services) support for Gemini, making messaging much more seamless.

Currently, if you use Gemini to create an image and try to send it through Google Messages, the recipient only gets a blank link. This happens because Gemini relies on basic SMS, which does not support direct image sharing. MMS and RCS, on the other hand, can send actual photos and rich content.

Tech experts found clues in the latest Google app update showing that the company is working to fetch a device’s RCS abilities. This suggests Google plans to let Gemini send AI-generated images, videos, and files directly through Google Messages, instead of just sending links.

RCS support will significantly improve how Gemini shares content. For example, soon you may be able to ask Gemini to send the last photo from your gallery or share a PDF from Google Drive with friends, and Gemini will attach the file directly in your message.

As Google continues to expand Gemini’s multimedia and messaging features, users can look forward to a smarter and more helpful AI assistant integrated with Android’s best services.
