GoFundMe for ICE Agent in Renee Good Killing Surges Past $600,000

A GoFundMe page raising money for the ICE agent who killed Renee Good is drawing growing backlash as donations surge past $630,000 just days after it was created.

The fundraiser supports Jonathan Ross, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who fatally shot Good during a protest in Minneapolis last week. The page was not created by Ross or his family.

Donations jumped sharply after billionaire Bill Ackman donated $10,000 and shared the fundraiser with his followers on social media. The total raised nearly doubled within a day.

The page’s creator, identified as Clyde Emmons, called Good a “domestic terrorist” and claimed the shooting was justified. Critics say the language is inflammatory and misleading.

Advocacy groups and activists are urging GoFundMe to remove the page, arguing it violates company rules. GoFundMe policies ban fundraisers that support the legal defense of someone accused of a violent crime.

The fundraiser originally said it would help pay for Ross’ legal costs, but it was later edited to say the money would simply “help him.” The funds remain unverified and could be refunded if the page is taken down.

More than 12,000 people have signed a petition calling on GoFundMe to remove any fundraisers supporting Ross. Critics say allowing the page to stay up legitimizes violence by law enforcement.

GoFundMe has not yet commented publicly. The controversy adds to national outrage over Good’s death, which has sparked protests, resignations by federal prosecutors, and legal action against the Trump administration.
