Oil prices jumped sharply on Tuesday after President Donald Trump called on Iranians to continue anti-government protests, saying “Help is on its way.” His remarks came as demonstrations in Iran entered their third week, with reports of violent clashes between protesters and security forces.

Trump posted on Truth Social urging Iranians to “take over your institutions,” a statement widely interpreted as a call for regime change. He also announced that all meetings with Iranian officials have been canceled, reversing earlier signals of possible diplomatic talks.

The president warned that the United States would intervene if Iran kills peaceful protesters. “Help is on the way,” he wrote, fueling speculation about potential military action. U.S. officials confirmed Trump has been briefed on military options, though Iran has not attacked U.S. forces or bases.

The comments triggered an immediate spike in global oil prices, already under pressure from fears of regional instability. Analysts say any U.S.-Iran confrontation could disrupt energy supplies and push prices even higher.

Meanwhile, Iran summoned European ambassadors to show videos of alleged armed protesters attacking security forces. Tehran accused foreign governments of supporting “rioters” and warned against interference in its internal affairs.

Protests began on December 29 over Iran’s collapsing currency and economic crisis. Human rights groups report hundreds of deaths, including protesters and security personnel. The unrest is now seen as one of the most serious challenges to Iran’s leadership in decades.
