Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable phone, the MIX Flip 3, may not see a global release next year, according to new information from the GSMA database. The findings suggest that Xiaomi is shifting its foldable strategy, with the MIX Flip 3 potentially launching exclusively in China in 2026.
This marks a change from previous MIX Flip devices, which were released both domestically and internationally. The absence of global model numbers in the database appears to confirm this change in direction.
Two Variants Confirmed
The GSMA listing reveals two versions of the MIX Flip 3:
- Model 2603APX0AC: Equipped with satellite connectivity
- Model 2603EPX2DC: A standard variant without satellite features
The satellite model signals Xiaomi’s intent to compete in the growing market for emergency-ready smartphones, a trend already adopted by several high-end brands.
No Global Models Found
So far, there is no trace of international model numbers, strongly indicating the MIX Flip 3 will not be officially available outside China. This follows a similar pattern seen earlier this year with the MIX Fold series, which also remained China-exclusive.
Expected Launch Date
Based on the registration pattern, the MIX Flip 3 could be launched as early as March 2026—a faster rollout than previous generations, which typically appeared in retail channels by June. This points to a more aggressive strategy for Xiaomi’s foldables.
Features and Specs
The MIX Flip 3 is expected to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor and may launch alongside the flagship Xiaomi 16 Ultra. While this joint launch is still unconfirmed, it could mirror Xiaomi’s past marketing strategy of pairing major product announcements.
Internally, the MIX Flip 3 is referred to by the codename “pixiu,” continuing Xiaomi’s tradition of naming devices after mythical creatures. The MIX Flip 2 was codenamed “bixi.”
App Ecosystem Tie-In
For Xiaomi users looking to get more from their devices, the MemeOS Enhancer app is now available on the Play Store. It provides access to advanced features, system updates, and performance enhancements.
