Google is expanding its Imagen 3 image generation capabilities to free Gemini users, allowing them to create images of people.
This feature was initially available only to Gemini Advanced subscribers as an “early access version” starting in August. Recently, it has become accessible to a broader audience.
Earlier this month, Google integrated this capability into the Gemini side panel across various Google services, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Features like “Help me create” in Docs and “Help me visualize” in Slides now support this image generation.
In recent days, users have noticed that the ability to generate images of people is appearing in the free Gemini app.
Previously, this feature was restricted to Gemini Advanced accounts, with a prompt encouraging users to subscribe for early access.
While not yet available to all free Gemini users, the rollout is gradually expanding.
The Gemini app recently received an “enhanced” version of Imagen 3, which ranks highly on the Image Generation Leaderboard, offering richer details and improved accuracy in following user instructions.
