The Flexbar, developed by ENIAC Technology, brings back the Touch Bar—a feature Apple discontinued in 2021 due to user dissatisfaction.
While some users miss the Touch Bar’s functionality, others find it more of a gimmick. The Flexbar offers a more customizable, modern version of the Touch Bar, designed to address previous issues and unlock new productivity features.
The Flexbar features an AMOLED touchscreen with customizable shortcuts, similar to a Stream Deck. It allows users to control apps, run scripts, adjust volume, and even manage folders with ease.
The device offers haptic feedback and a magnetic stand for ergonomic use. It’s designed to be fully customizable, with users able to create layouts and save app arrangements.
However, the product isn’t without limitations. Third-party app integration is still in the works, with a plug-in store launching in mid-2025.
For now, early adopters are limited to built-in features, and some bugs remain, such as the Flexbar not turning off when the Mac enters sleep mode.
At $179 (or $149 for early supporters), the Flexbar offers a premium design and functionality but might not be a must-have for everyone.
It’s best suited for those who enjoy accessories like the Stream Deck and are looking for an elegant, modern touch interface. The SDK for third-party apps also hints at exciting future possibilities.
