First Poster for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Unveiled: “Defy the Gods”

The first official poster for Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated mythological epic The Odyssey has been revealed, igniting buzz both online and in theaters.

Currently appearing in AMC locations, the poster features a bold and haunting design: a decapitated Greek statue head surrounded by embers and smoke, set against a dark, minimalist background.

The tagline “Defy the Gods” takes center stage, hinting at the film’s central themes of fate, divine conflict, and human struggle.

The poster also highlights a major technical milestone: The Odyssey is shot entirely with IMAX film cameras, a first for a full-length feature. This sets the stage for a visually ambitious and immersive cinematic experience.

Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The film boasts a powerhouse cast, including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.

Production began in February 2025, with filming still underway. The film reportedly carries a $250 million budget, positioning it among Nolan’s most ambitious projects to date. It is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026.

A teaser trailer is expected to arrive soon, likely premiering alongside screenings of Jurassic World Rebirth in theaters.

While fans have largely praised the poster’s aesthetic and intensity, some have raised questions about historical accuracy and tone.

Regardless, the release marks the official launch of the film’s marketing campaign and confirms the scale of Nolan’s latest cinematic undertaking.
