A large fire broke out on the mainstage of the Tomorrowland festival site in Boom, Belgium, just days before the event’s first weekend is set to begin.
According to local media outlet GVA, emergency services responded in large numbers to the scene at De Schorre park, where Tomorrowland is scheduled to start on Friday, July 18. Authorities have advised local residents to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke.
Videos and photos circulating on Reddit show the fire consuming parts of the elaborate mainstage structure, with flames spreading across several levels of decorative installations and scaffolding. Some online reports mention hearing loud bangs, which are believed to be fireworks igniting as the fire spread.
At this time, it is unclear how much of the stage has been damaged or whether the fire will impact the festival’s schedule. Event organizers have not yet issued an official statement.
Tomorrowland, one of the world’s largest electronic music festivals, began in 2005 with about 10,000 attendees. It has since grown to host around 600 artists across 16 stages over two weekends, drawing over 400,000 visitors from around the world.
This is not the first fire to affect a Tomorrowland event. In 2017, a fire at the Tomorrowland Barcelona mainstage led to the evacuation of more than 22,000 people.
So far, no injuries or fatalities have been reported from the 2025 incident. The situation is still developing.
