Final Destination: Bloodlines

During a May 19 screening of Final Destination Bloodlines at Cinema Ocho in La Plata, Argentina, the theater’s ceiling suddenly collapsed, interrupting the movie for around 40 attendees. The incident happened in theater No. 4 around 9 p.m., causing debris to fall onto the audience.

One viewer, 29-year-old Fiamma Villaverde, described how pieces of rubble hit her shoulder, back, knee, and ankle. She avoided serious head injury by leaning over the armrest. She later missed work due to bruises and trauma from the incident and plans to file a complaint.

Video from the scene shows a large hole in the ceiling and debris scattered on the floor. Attendees were shocked, and many believe recent heavy rain may have weakened the structure. The theater has not issued a public statement about the collapse.

Final Destination Bloodlines had just been released on May 16 and quickly became the franchise’s best debut, earning $102 million globally. Ironically, the movie’s plot about deadly accidents became a reality for those in the audience that night.
