McKenna Kindred, a former teacher at Central Valley High School in Spokane, Washington, admitted in court to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student in 2022.
The inappropriate relationship began when the student found Kindred on Instagram. They exchanged sexually explicit messages, photos, and videos before meeting in her home while her husband was away.
The relationship quickly became known at the school, and the student’s mother also reported the messages to authorities. Kindred was arrested and pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual misconduct in March 2024.
She was sentenced to two years of probation, fined $700, and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
Recently uncovered messages reveal disturbing details of their exchanges. In one, Kindred admitted to using a sex toy while thinking of the student. In another, she wrote, “I like being touched by you,” and expressed jealousy when other girls discussed him.
Kindred expressed remorse in court, apologizing to the victim and his family. She said the case caused her to lose her career, friendships, and freedoms, and had severely affected her mental health.
Since the conviction, Kindred’s husband has remained with her, and the couple moved to a new state to start fresh.
