Elton John has tied Beyoncé with his sixtieth top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to his festive duet “Merry Christmas” with Ed Sheeran.

The track, which was originally released in 2021, has re-entered the charts and landed at No. 38, marking its first appearance in the top 40.

This milestone places John among the top artists with the most Hot 100 top 40 hits, alongside Beyoncé.

“Merry Christmas” has been climbing the charts due to increased sales and streams during the holiday season.

It also reappears on multiple Billboard lists, including No. 17 on the Digital Song Sales chart and No. 32 on the Streaming Songs ranking.

Additionally, the track has found success internationally, ranking No. 18 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S.

Ed Sheeran also celebrates a personal achievement, as “Merry Christmas” marks his 25th top 40 hit in the U.S.

The song’s success highlights the ongoing popularity of holiday music, with both John and Sheeran continuing to enjoy chart success.
