Elon Musk made a surprise appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday and made several remarks that caught attention.

Musk joked about President Donald Trump’s newly announced “Board of Peace,” saying he first thought it meant “piece,” as in a piece of Greenland or Venezuela. His comment drew laughter from the audience.

Musk also talked about his long‑term dream of going to Mars. He said he wants to die on Mars someday, but “not on impact,” which again brought laughs.

The SpaceX and Tesla chief spoke with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink about the future. He talked about space travel, robots and artificial intelligence, and he encouraged people to be optimistic about the future.

Musk’s appearance came after years of public criticism of the Davos forum. In the past, he called the event “boring” and questioned its purpose.

Trump had spoken at the same event a day earlier about his new peace initiative, drawing mixed reactions from world leaders. Musk’s joke referenced that context.

Musk said he believes advanced technology and exploration are important for humanity’s future. He spoke about robots and future missions beyond Earth.

His comments mixed humour with big ideas, and the session ended with positive remarks on innovation and progress.
