Canadian rapper Drake appears to be calling out former friends and collaborators in his new single “What Did I Miss?” released Friday during his livestream event Iceman: Episode 1. The track reflects on the fallout from his high-profile feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.
The 38-year-old artist uses the song to express disappointment in those who, he claims, failed to support him during the feud. “Last time I looked to my right, you n—-s was standing beside me,” he raps. “How can some people I love hang around p—— who try me?”
The feud with Lamar dominated the hip-hop world in 2024, with both artists releasing multiple diss tracks. Lamar’s “Not Like Us” — which he performed five times in a row at his Pop Out concert in Los Angeles — won several Grammy Awards and intensified the rivalry.
In “What Did I Miss?”, Drake also makes reference to former allies attending that concert, suggesting a sense of betrayal. “I saw bro went to Pop Out with them,” he says, “but been d— riding gang since ‘Headlines.’”
The single is accompanied by a visually intense video, featuring Drake surrounded by weapon props and later dancing in an ice-filled warehouse.
This latest release follows Drake’s February album $OME $EXY $ONGS 4 U, a collaboration with PartyNextDoor, which topped the Billboard 200. Its lead single “Nokia” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April.
In recent months, Drake has also taken legal action against Universal Music Group, claiming it played a role in damaging his reputation by supporting “Not Like Us.” UMG has denied those claims.
