PlayStation has officially confirmed the first free game for PS Plus members in August — Sword of the Sea. It will be available from 19 August for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, with no extra cost.
Sword of the Sea is a new adventure game from Giant Squid, the same team behind ABZU, Journey, and The Pathless. In this game, players control a character called the Wraith, who rides a Hoversword across giant sand waves and shimmering water.
The game combines smooth surfing with classic skateboarding moves. Players can speed up, catch air, and perform tricks while exploring a lost world. The goal is to bring back the ocean and life to a barren land.
According to the developers, the game mixes fast action with peaceful movement. Players will also face hidden dangers under the waves while uncovering the ruins of a forgotten culture.
Sword of the Sea will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC on the same day. Fans are already excited. One player said, “Was very much looking forward to this game, so having it on PS+ is so hype.”
