Newly released images from the U.S. Department of Justice show director Brett Ratner pictured alongside the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and two women whose identities have been obscured.
The images were part of a large batch of files released Friday that document Epstein’s relationships with high-profile figures. Ratner, known for directing the Rush Hour series and X-Men: The Last Stand, is seen sitting on a sofa beside Epstein in a casual setting.
The location appears to be the same as earlier photos showing Ratner and Epstein with the late French modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, which were released in December. Brunel co-founded Karin Models and MC2 Model Management and died in a Paris prison in 2022 while under investigation for sexual abuse and trafficking.
There is no indication of wrongdoing by Ratner in the files. BBC reporters reached out to Ratner’s representative for comment. The images have been redacted to protect victims and ongoing investigations.
The release coincided with the debut of Melania: 20 Days to History, a documentary about the First Lady’s life before Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration. This is Ratner’s first project since sexual misconduct allegations surfaced against him during the #MeToo movement, which he has denied.
The DOJ files also include images of other high-profile individuals associated with Epstein, including Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Lord Peter Mandelson, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Some photos appear to show the former Duke of York in compromising positions with women.
The files provide further insight into Epstein’s network, including relationships with celebrities, politicians, and modeling agencies, though the release redacts sensitive information to protect victims.
