Diddy Tries to End Dawn Richard’s Case While Trial Heats Up

Diddy’s legal team has asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit filed by singer Dawn Richard. Richard was part of Diddy’s groups Danity Kane and Dirty Money and appeared on the show Making the Band.

Diddy’s lawyers say Richard’s claims are too old and are based on weak and unclear accusations. They also say she is trying to get attention and money by using other people’s stories of pain.

While the lawyers asked to throw out her case, Richard testified in court. She said she saw Diddy try to hit Cassie Ventura with a skillet in 2009. Richard also said Diddy locked her and another woman in a room and told them to keep quiet. She said Diddy later sent flowers as if nothing had happened.

Richard first sued Diddy in September 2023. She claims he groped her and treated her badly during Making the Band. Diddy’s team denies the claims and says she would not have signed another deal if things were so bad.

Now, the judge will decide if Richard’s lawsuit can continue. The decision comes as Diddy’s criminal trial also moves forward. If convicted, Diddy could face life in prison. The trial continues Monday, May 19, in Manhattan.
