DC Studios has unveiled the first official images of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, generating excitement among fans of the DC Universe.
The photos, shared by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn on Instagram, show Alcock in her full Supergirl costume and offer a first glimpse of her upcoming solo film, Supergirl, set for release on June 26, 2026.
Alcock, best known for House of the Dragon, makes a cameo in the recently released Superman film. She appears at the Fortress of Solitude retrieving her dog, Krypto.
Her costume features the classic red-and-blue design with the “S” logo, paired with a long tan jacket that gives her a gritty, rebellious look. Fans on X have praised Alcock’s “cosmic punk” style, calling her brief appearance “electric.”
James Gunn has described this version of Supergirl as a stark contrast to Superman. Having survived a traumatic upbringing on a fragment of Krypton, Kara Zor-El is portrayed as tougher and more troubled than her cousin, setting the stage for her solo film.
The upcoming Supergirl movie, directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, will follow Kara’s vengeful journey through space alongside Krypto and a young girl named Ruthye, played by Eve Ridley.
Filming for Supergirl wrapped in May 2025 in London and Scotland. The film also stars Jason Momoa as Lobo, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara’s parents.
Promotional images and posters, including one showing Supergirl leaning against a graffiti-tagged Superman crest, highlight her defiant attitude and position her as a key figure in DC Studios’ Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Superman is now available digitally, while fans await further details and trailers for Supergirl ahead of its 2026 release.
