Cineworld will re-release eight Christopher Nolan films in IMAX across the UK and Ireland this August, offering fans a rare chance to revisit the director’s most iconic works on the big screen. The special screenings come in anticipation of Nolan’s next epic, The Odyssey, set to premiere in July 2026.
The re-release includes Inception, Interstellar, Oppenheimer, Tenet, Dunkirk, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises. These films will run between August 20 and August 28, primarily in IMAX, with some also available in Dolby Cinema and standard 2D formats.
Cineworld says the event is designed to showcase Nolan’s groundbreaking use of IMAX, a format he has supported since The Dark Knight in 2008. Many of the featured films include sequences shot in IMAX’s 1.43:1 aspect ratio, offering viewers unmatched visual detail and sound quality.
Here’s a breakdown of the screening schedule:
- Inception & Interstellar: Aug 20–25
- Batman Begins: Aug 22–24
- Oppenheimer: Aug 22–27
- The Dark Knight: Aug 23–25
- The Dark Knight Rises: Aug 24–26
- Dunkirk: Aug 26–28
- Tenet: Aug 27–28
Tickets are now available on Cineworld’s website. Prices start at £9.99 for IMAX and £5.99 for standard 2D and Superscreen, including booking fees.
Nolan’s films have earned over $6.6 billion worldwide. The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises both topped $1 billion, while Oppenheimer (2023) grossed $975 million and won Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture. Other highlights include Inception ($836M), Interstellar ($670M), Dunkirk ($526M), and Tenet ($365M).
Cineworld describes the event as a way to experience Nolan’s vision “as it was meant to be seen — with giant screens, immersive sound, and unmatched detail.” Online reactions have been mostly positive.
One user on X (@NolanAnalyst) called it “a dream lineup,” while others like @ConnyLake18085 speculated whether the move reflects pressure surrounding The Odyssey’s expectations.
The IMAX season follows similar Cineworld campaigns, including its recent X-Men retrospective. For Nolan fans, it’s a cinematic celebration — and a countdown to what may be his most ambitious film yet.
