Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA who was killed on September 10, 2025, had secretly met with the president to argue against a military conflict with Iran, according to political commentator Tucker Carlson. Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at an outdoor event during his “American Comeback” tour at Utah Valley University.
Authorities arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, the following day after he turned himself in to family members. The FBI has described the attack as targeted. According to the FBI, Robinson, who had no prior criminal history, had expressed anti-Kirk views. President Donald Trump, a close ally of Kirk, confirmed the death on social media and called for the death penalty for the suspect. Flags at federal buildings were lowered to half-staff until September 14 in tribute.
Carlson stated on his program that Kirk presented his anti-war case calmly and respectfully in the Oval Office. He argued that another prolonged war in the Middle East would be detrimental to U.S. interests, a position that reportedly risked alienating some of his organization’s financial supporters who favor military intervention. Neither the White House nor Turning Point USA has officially commented on the alleged meeting, and its date and outcome remain undisclosed.
The revelation highlights Kirk’s influence in conservative foreign policy debates. A prominent figure in mobilizing young voters for Trump, he often advocated for a foreign policy of restraint. This stance aligned with a growing public sentiment against “forever wars” after the U.S. engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Kirk’s death has prompted widespread condemnation of political violence from both sides of the political spectrum. Vigils were held in his honor, and his widow, Erika Kirk, addressed supporters on September 12, vowing to continue his legacy. The incident has intensified concerns over rising threats to public figures.
