Gamers tuning in to the Summer Game Fest were hoping to see the full trailer for Resident Evil 9. Instead, Capcom only showed a short teaser video, which left many fans confused and disappointed.
The teaser celebrated Resident Evil‘s upcoming 30th anniversary. It featured a brief cinematic of Racoon City, with Lady Dimitrescu’s voice actress singing “Happy Birthday.” But there was no gameplay or story footage from the new game.
After the teaser, Capcom executive producer Jun Takeuchi gave a short message. He thanked fans for their support and said the game is still not ready. He asked everyone to wait “just a blink of an eye more.”
This surprise came after strong rumors that the trailer would finally drop. Fans had been waiting since Resident Evil 9 was first teased in July 2024. So far, little is known about the game, except that Leon Kennedy will return along with a new lead character.
Capcom did announce a Resident Evil sale, but that wasn’t enough to make up for the lack of a real trailer. Fans are still waiting to see more of Resident Evil 9: Requiem, which is now confirmed to release in February 2026.
Until then, all eyes are on Capcom to deliver soon.
