BTS member Kim Taehyung, known as V, celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday with an emotional reunion with his bandmates and large-scale fan events around the world.
The celebration began with a solo livestream on Weverse, which soon turned into a surprise group appearance at the HYBE building. Members RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook joined V to sing “Happy Birthday” and spend time together. Suga did not attend due to illness.
The group later held another livestream from a gym, giving fans a rare look at their routines after completing military service earlier this year. The gathering marked one of BTS’s first public group moments since their discharge in June 2025 and added to anticipation for their planned comeback in 2026.
V later shared photos and videos on Instagram, thanking the members and friends who celebrated with him. He wrote that he felt happy and hoped to celebrate future birthdays with fans.
Messages from bandmates and friends
BTS’s official accounts posted birthday messages and videos for V, while individual members shared short clips and notes on social media. Actor Park Seo Joon, a close friend of V, also posted a birthday message.
Fans reacted warmly, with many saying it appeared to be one of V’s happiest birthdays in recent years.
Global fan celebrations
Fans, known as ARMY, organised large birthday projects in several countries. In South Korea, digital ads appeared across Seoul, including subway displays and billboards. In France, fans dedicated a space at the Gardens of Versailles. In China, large outdoor screens and a themed aircraft were used to mark the occasion. Landmarks and displays also lit up in cities such as Moscow.
Fan groups also made donations in V’s name to charity, while birthday hashtags trended worldwide on social media.
V’s 30th birthday was his first since completing military service. The celebration comes as BTS prepares for a full-group album and world tour planned for 2026.
