BTS has confirmed plans for a full-group comeback in 2026, marking their return after all seven members completed South Korea’s mandatory military service earlier this year.

The group, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, has been gradually reuniting since mid-2025. Their next project will be their first full-group release since their hiatus began and their first studio album since Be in 2020.

All members completed their military service by June 2025, with Suga discharged last. The group reunited publicly in July during a Weverse livestream, their first appearance together as a full group in several years. Since then, BTS has shared regular updates, including group rehearsals and year-end livestreams in December.

New album planned for spring 2026

BTS is expected to release a new album in spring 2026, with March widely reported as the target period. The project will be their first full-group album since Proof in 2022, which was an anthology.

Members have said recording is largely complete, with ongoing revisions to refine the music. They have described the album as performance-focused and shaped by the group’s experiences during their solo projects and military service. Several members have said the album reflects a “back-to-roots” approach, combining ideas from all seven artists.

Speculation around the release date increased after a New Year postcard sent to fan club members featured the date March 20, 2026, though no official confirmation has been made.

World tour to follow

A global tour is expected to follow the album release later in 2026. While details have not been announced, industry reports suggest it could be the group’s largest tour to date, with dozens of shows planned worldwide.

The tour is likely to begin after album promotions, possibly in late April or May. No information on venues, ticket sales or tour dates has yet been released.

Ongoing fan engagement

Throughout December 2025, BTS increased their engagement with fans through livestreams, social media posts and handwritten messages welcoming the new year. Members described 2026 as a major turning point for the group and thanked fans for their patience during the hiatus.

Despite working on group activities, members have continued individual projects, including brand partnerships and variety content.

HYBE and Big Hit Music are expected to share official details about the comeback in early 2026. BTS’s return is anticipated to be one of the most significant events in global pop music following their extended break.
