On May 10, 2025, it was reported that BTS’ Jimin has taken the lead in the Korean Wave category at the upcoming 34th Seoul Music Awards, set to take place on June 21, 2025.
Jimin ranked first in both rounds of global voting, with support from fans through platforms like Kpop Seoul, Fandom Chart, My1Pick, and Japan’s JKFandom.
The Seoul Music Awards, organized by Sports Seoul since 1990, determine winners based on music sales, fan votes, and expert panel scores.
The event plays a significant role in shining a global spotlight on K-pop. As soon as the news broke, fans flocked to social media to express their excitement and celebrate Jimin’s achievement.
“Congratulations, dearest Jimin! We are so proud of you, my love! Well-deserved!” one fan wrote on X.
The 29-year-old star is also nominated for the Main Trophy (Bonsang) and Solo World Pick awards. Last year, at the 33rd Seoul Music Awards, Jimin won a Bonsang along with BTS members Jungkook and Taehyung, and BTS as a group won the World Trend Artist award.
Fans of the BTS member expressed their pride on social media, using heartfelt messages and nicknames like “Mimi” and “Jiminie” to show their support.
“Yaaaaaaaay, I’m so happy 😭😭😭😭 Congratulations Mimi 🎉,” one fan celebrated.
“DESERVE!!!!! 😭😭 CONGRATULATIONS JIMINIE!! 🥹💛,” another fan remarked.
The overwhelming support continued, with fans congratulating each other for their collective effort in voting for Jimin.
“My love for Jimin taught me a lot of new things, I guess I’m now more ready than ever for the next one. Well done, everyone, we worked so hard together,” one fan shared.
Others applauded the unity and dedication of Jimin’s fanbase, known as PJMs.
“Hard work never goes in vain. I love the passion, energy, and unity everyone put into voting for Jimin. This is the result of focusing on supporting the artist we love,” a fan commented.
In other news, Jimin’s solo track “WHO” reportedly experienced a significant drop in Spotify streams, with around 175 million plays disappearing between November 30, 2024, and May 1, 2025. This issue was raised online on May 3, though neither Spotify nor Jimin’s agency have made an official statement.
Despite this, Jimin’s solo exhibit “The Truth Untold” in New York has been a major success. All 29 sessions for the exhibit, which highlights his albums FACE and MUSE, sold out in advance of its May 31 debut.
Fans continue to show their unwavering support for Jimin, whether celebrating his achievements or supporting his artistic journey.
