Scarlett Johansson received a warm welcome from the Jurassic franchise family before filming her latest movie. Bryce Dallas Howard, who starred in the previous three Jurassic World films, reached out with an encouraging message when Johansson joined the cast.
A Supportive Message
“When I first got cast, Bryce Dallas Howard reached out to me and was so excited,” Johansson told PEOPLE. “She wrote me a whole long email about her experience and how wonderful the fans were and how that was part of the excitement, joining the Jurassic family and having these fans for life.”
Howard played Claire Dearing in Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom, and Dominion alongside Chris Pratt. Her email highlighted the special bond between Jurassic actors and their dedicated fanbase.
More Support from Original Cast
Laura Dern, who starred in the original 1993 Jurassic Park, was “also so pumped” about Johansson joining the franchise. Johansson has worked with many original cast members before, including Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Samuel L. Jackson through various projects.
Jonathan Bailey, who co-stars with Johansson in the new film, also received encouragement from Goldblum, who told him to “just have a great time.”
About the New Movie
In Jurassic World Rebirth, Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a skilled mercenary leading a mission to extract dinosaur DNA for medical research. The film also stars Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis and Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid.
This marks the seventh Jurassic movie since the franchise began over 30 years ago.
Howard’s Enthusiasm
Howard recently expressed her excitement about the new film, saying she’ll be “there in the theater opening day.” She praised the cast and said she would return to the franchise “in a heartbeat” if asked.
A Childhood Dream
For Johansson, joining Jurassic has been a lifelong goal. She hopes the new movie will inspire young viewers the same way the original film amazed her as a child.
“I hope that there are other 10-year-olds that have the same experience that I did when I saw the first Jurassic in theaters,” she said.
Jurassic World Rebirth hits theaters July 2.
