Box Office: ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Closing in on $800M, ‘Ballerina’ Opens to $51M

Disney’s Lilo & Stitch is dominating the global box office as it nears $800 million worldwide. After its third weekend, the film has earned $772.6 million globally, including $436.8 million from international markets.

The film opened in Japan this week, where it debuted at No. 1 with $4 million. It is already the highest-grossing film of the year in countries like France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico.

Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has passed $450 million worldwide, with $301.2 million from international markets. China continues to be its biggest market, where the movie has now earned $47.5 million.

Lionsgate’s Ballerina, a spin-off from the John Wick franchise, opened to $51 million globally, below early predictions. Its top international markets were China ($3 million), the UK ($2.5 million), and Mexico ($1.9 million).

Other films still performing include Karate Kid: Legends, which now stands at $74 million globally, and Final Destination: Bloodlines with $257.2 million worldwide.

Next, Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon is off to a good start in Korea, earning $4 million in early previews.

The box office race continues as Lilo & Stitch approaches its $800 million milestone.
