Blake Lively’s Harassment Claims Against Justin Baldoni Dismissed by Court

A US judge has dismissed most of Blake Lively’s sexual harassment lawsuit against her co-star Justin Baldoni, in a major setback for the actress.

The ruling removed 10 out of 13 claims in the case. These included allegations of sexual harassment, defamation and conspiracy. However, three claims will still move forward to trial, including breach of contract and retaliation.

The case began after the release of the film It Ends With Us. Lively had accused Baldoni, who directed and starred in the film, of making unwanted comments about her appearance and weight during filming.

The judge ruled that Lively could not file a sexual harassment claim under federal law because she worked as an independent contractor. The court also said California law did not apply, as the movie was filmed in New Jersey.

Lively also claimed Baldoni and his team tried to damage her reputation online by spreading negative stories. The judge allowed parts of this retaliation claim to go to trial, meaning a jury will decide on those issues.

Baldoni’s legal team welcomed the decision. They said the dismissal proves the claims were serious but not supported by enough evidence. They added that the case is now much smaller and they are ready to defend the remaining claims in court.

Lively’s lawyers pushed back, saying the case has always focused on alleged retaliation. They said Lively is prepared to testify and expose what they describe as a coordinated effort to harm her reputation.

The legal battle has followed the film’s success, which earned around $350 million worldwide. But reports of tension between the two stars and ongoing lawsuits have overshadowed its release.

A trial is expected to begin in May, after earlier attempts to settle the dispute failed. The case has also drawn attention due to mentions of Taylor Swift in private messages linked to the dispute.
