Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman has donated $10,000 to a controversial fundraiser supporting Jonathan Ross, an ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis last week.

Ackman said he supported the fundraiser because he believes in the principle that “one is innocent until proven guilty.” He added that the death was a tragedy and criticized the growing divisions surrounding the case.

The donation makes Ackman the largest contributor to the fundraiser for Ross. The page, created three days ago, has raised nearly $375,000 and describes the shooting as justified, a claim that has sparked widespread backlash.

Ackman also said he intended to donate to a fundraiser for Good’s family, but the page had already closed. That fundraiser raised $1.5 million in just two days, far exceeding its original goal, before donations were paused.

Good was killed during an encounter with ICE agents in her Minneapolis neighborhood. Her wife said the couple had stopped to support neighbors affected by an enforcement operation when Good was shot while sitting behind the wheel of her car.

Federal officials claim Good attempted to use her vehicle as a weapon. However, independent video analysis has raised questions about that account, with footage suggesting the car was turning away at the time of the shooting.

The case has become a political flashpoint. Ackman, who endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 election, has been outspoken in his support of law enforcement and conservative causes.

Ackman said on social media that the situation highlights deep national divisions, writing that “our country is stronger if we work together” to address complex issues.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, as public debate continues over law enforcement conduct and political rhetoric surrounding the incident.
